Like many women and men out there, I often dress to reflect my mood. More often than not, we do so subconsciously. I suppose it is normal to wear one’s heart on one’s sleeve. Or coat…or dress. Same thing, right? After negotiating more than ten contracts last night alone (yay for international transactions), I woke up exhausted and ready for the weekend. This is a bit of a problem, as it is only Tuesday.
My fatigue managed to manifest in my look for today, as I am currently sporting the metallic and black look. As I entered the building, the doorman (aka the friendliest man alive), blurted out, “Wow, someone’s ready to pack a punch!” I could not help but burst out laughing, as apparently I succeeded in looking as severe as I was feeling.
While a splash of silver may be a bold way to make a statement, it is a great color to sport at any time of year. With Starbuck’s release of the infamous red cup, I may actually start to believe that the holiday season is fast approaching. Here in Houston, the weather is still not getting the message, but we are making small strides. As the weather gets colder, and the sky gets darker, sporting the metallic look is a great way to ring in the season.
I am a firmly opposed to the whole “no white after Labor Day” concept. I love a splash of white, especially during a dark day (like today in Texas). Try pairing a white coat with a metallic bag or pumps, and I assure you heads will turn. Today I’m going big on the metallic silver, so I went ahead and paired my look with black suede leggings. Yes, I wear leggings to work, and I am proud of it.
One reader has requested that I emphasize more “evening” appropriate looks. I applaud her social life, and therefore, I have outlined a couple of evening looks today for your shopping pleasure. Try pairing a metallic silver dress with black pumps and clutch. For those of you looking for just a sliver of silver, pair a leather black dress with some silver stilettos like the ones pictured below, and voila!
