Combing pink with a touch of silver or grey is definitely not a novel idea. In fact, pink and silver is one of the top ten most popular wedding color schemes. Trust me on this. As someone who attended 20 weddings before I even graduated from college, I would know.
As some of you may know by now, I always love delving into color symbolism. Today is no different. If you consider what pink and silver are thought to represent, it makes perfect sense to combine these colors in your wardrobe.
When you first hear the word “pink”, your mind probably thinks of all things feminine. Believe it or not, silver is one of the oldest representations of feminine energy and strength. Arabic alchemists even adopted a feminine name when working with silver. Much like women, silver can withstand being challenged. In fact, silver is believed to help shield negativity and ward off evil by reflecting light from the sun and moon. Have I convinced you to wear more silver yet?
As you can probably guess, the color pink has been said to calm or reassure the soul. Some prisons even have pink rooms where they temporarily place violent prisoners to calm their aggression. Talk about the power of pink. Combining pink with silver is ideal because some psychologists have found that too much pink can subconsciously represent extreme childishness.
Next time you decide to incorporate one of my favorite color combinations, don’t forget to feel empowered and protected. You’re welcome.;)
Fortunately, so many designers have embraced the power of pink and silver, and here are just a few of my favorite things.
P.S. You can find it all at Nordstrom.
