Mother’s Day, Last Minute Gift Ideas

As Mother’s Day is either on or right before my birthday, I’m pretty sure I’ll never forget this holiday.  I had several requests to do a post on easy online gift ideas, so today, I’ll share a few easy-to-order items that will make your mom smile.  I totally get it…with busy work schedules, it’s so easy to forget buying groceries let alone gifts. Plus, where did the year go?  I swear it was just January.

As I have a significant amount of followers living outside the US, I should probably stress that Sunday is Mother’s Day in the United States.  For many across the globe, Mother’s Day has already come and gone, so fear not.  Here in the US, Mother’s Day became an official holiday in 1914 and was created by Ms. Anna Jarvis in 1908.  When Jarvis’ mother passed away, she created the special day to honor the selflessness and sacrifices made by mothers like her own.  The first celebration took place in West Virginia of all places, and we have not looked back since.  Interestingly, Anna Jarvis never end up having children of her own.   Did you learn something new?!? J

For decades, the traditional gifts consist of flowers, candy, and cards.  While most moms probably don’t give a thought or preference to gifts, here are a few ideas that can be shipped just in time for Sunday.

speaking as a Mom and Grandmom, a visit is the best gift and phone call is important if a visit cannot be arranged. The history of this celebration also keeps all in perspective–thanks for sharing!

My mother would definitely agree with you. I grew up with parents who loved giving gifts but couldn’t care less about receiving them. They just wanted our presence.

Thank you so much for stopping by, and happy early Mother’s Day!

my mom…ahh. she refused to pay any attention to this holiday, “its MANUFACTURED…by the HALLMARK CARD company!” she complained…it was also in an era where it was just starting…but it left me free to ignore it. 🙂

I have several friends that have shared the same. I imagine it does pay to be a Hallmark executive.;) My mom always told me that if you appreciate your mom each day, then that is the greatest gift.
