As the temperature continues to drop (even in Texas), my excitement for fall fashion continues to grow. I love this time of year for several reasons. My hair especially appreciates reduced humidity, and I LOVE layers!
Here are a few of my favorite trends this season, which you can transition into winter, spring, and even summer!
Fringe
Fringe is numero uno on my list, as I have been a fan for years and years. While fringe tends to be more of a “trend” that cycles, I personally embrace the look every year. Whether you tend to go for a bolder look like I do, or you enjoy little pops of fun, you can make fringe work for you. This season, designers have incorporated the look in everything from bag charms to booties to capes. Here are a few of my favorite (and more affordable) fringe looks I’m sporting at the moment.
Believe it or not, I snagged my fringe suede cape from Forever 21! It can be paired over a dress or dressed down with leggings and a t-shirt. At $57.90, you cannot go wrong! Click here to buy this fabulous cape. My navy Tory Burch fringe bag is also on trend, and I just so happened to grab this one on sale last year. I am all about getting a good deal, and at half off, this fringe staple will last me for years to come.
Retro Chic
Retro chick, or as Glamour labels it “that 70s vibe” is another one of my favorite trends for the season. You may be thinking, “Whoa there; that’s where I draw the line.” While flared jeans and tie-dye print goes in and out of style, you don’t have to go for the dramatic to rock this trend. You can find some more understated 70s inspired prints that are work appropriate at Zara and Kate Spade, to name a few.
I worked in a little Kate Spade retro dress and paired it with a solid black Kate Spade Coat and color block Reed Krakoff bag for a look that can transition from day to night.
Eyes Galore
For those of you who have glanced through past posts, you are probably wondering whether I manage to incorporate a little eye love into every post. Yes, I have an obsession, but this season, once again, my obsession is shared with fabulous designers like Diane von Furstenberg, Marc Jacobs, Maison Scotch, and Fendi to name a few.
Like the above trends, you can go bold with the evil eye cardigan or take it down a notch by pairing a tote like my Fendi favorite with a black shift dress and black flats. Sky’s the limit!
The Mini Skirt
Mini skirts may be a great way to keep cool during the summer, but if you shop smart, you can transition the look into the fall and winter. Don’t believe me? You’ve got to trust Elle right? If the weather isn’t too dreadful in your neck of the woods, try pairing a mini with a classic (or bold) button down and structured trench and loafers. As the temperatures begin to drop, you can rock that same mini with some leggings and booties, and voila!
Statement Hats
One trend I am finally starting to embrace is the statement hat. From Beyoncé to Victoria Beckham, the boho look is literally everywhere, and rocking a fun hat will kill two birds with one stone. You’ll stay warmer, and of course you will be right on trend.
My friends and I had a little fun playing dressing up with hats. In line with my other highlighted trends for the season, the boho hat can be worn all year. In fact, the trend was actually featured here as a summer look that was predicted to take us fashionistas into fall.
You can rock all of these trends at once if you are up for a little fun, or you can rock an individual trend and amplify it to your personal taste and style. I am all about shopping smart and finding pieces that I can wear from day to night and from winter to spring. Not only do you wind up saving money, but you also can have fun and be creative.
Rocking any of these trends right now? I’d love to hear all about it!

The statement hats are my favorite fall fashion accessory. I have a black Steampunk mini top hat that I got at the Marylanf Renaissance Festival. It’s super fun and cute and definitely gets noticed when I go out. 🙂

I keep seeing fringe pieces in stores but most people I’m out shopping with always disapprove! I’m going to have to whip out this blog post the next time that happens :p
