Christian Siriano first made waves in the fashion industry after winning Season 4 of Project Runway. Since then, he hasn’t looked back designing for many high-profile women such as Victoria Beckham, Lady Gaga, Michelle Obama, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Leslie Jones. Earlier this year, Jones had tweeted her dismay after none of the mainstream designers would design a red carpet creation for her given her nontraditional “Hollywood body”. Siriano quickly stepped up to the plate and made her look and feel her best.
One of the things I love about Christian Siriano is his desire to make his creations accessible to everyone. Sarah Jessica Parker tried to do the same with the launch of her shoe line, but in my view, she failed. Paying $395 for a basic pump does not appeal to the average woman. Siriano sells some of his floor length creations for $300, which are cheaper than most prom dresses these days. He is even donating proceeds to the sales of some of his pieces to charities that focus on wildlife preservation. Seriously, how cute is this little box set?!?
2016 has been a pretty big year for Siriano. His collections have received praise on a global scale, and he has taken steps to shake up the runway. When Siriano unveiled his latest and greatest at New York Fashion Week, the make up of the models turned heads. All shapes, sizes, and colors were represented. When asked about whether he was trying to make a statement, I loved his response, which was that this was just normal to him. He envisions his pieces on everyone, as opposed to strictly on very hungry, tall women.
Last night’s theme was a trip to Capri, and from the colors to the hats to the incredible shoes, it was a lovely trip. Here are some of the highlights.
I loved it all, and I now I really do want a trip to Capri! Anyone buying?! 🙂
After a long day at the office that started far earlier than I would like, this trip to Capri made my week.
